Leander Paes withdraws from India’s Davis Cup team
India doubles player Leander Paes pulled out of this week’s Davis Cup series against South Africa.
Indian team selector Akhtar Ali said Tuesday that Paes had informed the national tennis association that he would not be able to play in the Davis Cup due to an injury sustained during the U.S. Open.
“Withdrawing from the Davis Cup is a tough decision for me, but I don’t want to be a liability on the team,” Paes said.
