The need for proper drainage in basement wells

Without proper drainage for your egress window well they will fill up with water during the rainy season and look like an aquarium from the inside of the basement. It is necessary that proper drainage pipes are installed and the water drains automatically so that the basement wells are clear of water at all times. PVC drain pipes are installed from the top of the gravel to below the basement wells. Once the PVC drain pipes are installed it is necessary to test them so that they are functional. This test called the weeping tile test is performed once the installation of the drain and the basement wells are done properly. If proper drainage is not fitted then the water from the windows might leak and fill up the basement making it unfit to live in.

Exterior excavations are done during the installation of the basement wells to fit the drain pipes so that the foundation and the walls of the basement are not affected. With this method the interiors are not affected. Having exterior window drain for basement wells is costly when compared to interior window drain. In the case of interior window drain for basement wells there is no need for landscaping repairs. In interior drain there is no dependency on weeping tile.
